What is Dimensional weight?

Dimensional (DIM) weight is a package’s “size weight”: length × width × height ÷ a carrier divisor. Carriers charge for whichever is greater — actual or DIM weight.

Example

A 14×10×8 in box ÷ 139 has a DIM weight of 8.06 lb, billed as 9 lb even if it weighs 4 lb.

Why it matters

Oversized boxes quietly inflate shipping costs; a smaller box can cut them immediately.
